I opened an official looking letter the other day from “Corporate Records Service” that referenced my corporation’s annual minutes on the envelope. I was immediately suspicious because in over 10 years of being incorporated I’ve never been asked for our minutes.

I became extremely suspicious upon reading the letter that requested our minutes, a payment of $125.00, gave online contact information that did not end in .gov and requested the minutes in the next three weeks, even though that meant almost two more months in the year to have an annual meeting.

Sure enough, a scam it is. The State of Washington’s website has a prominent notice about this scam.

It’s too bad energy into something like this can’t be channeled into a legitimate business enterprise. There are obviously some creative talents here, albeit misguided talents.
