The Seattle Times has been publishing interviews with all the mayoral candidates, and there are a lot of them heading into the primary. Even though I don’t live in Seattle I find them fascinating.
The most interesting so far was the interview with the Socialist Workers Party candidate. Every answer sounded like it same from the Marx-Lenin playbook. The workers are taken advantage of, all the time. We need to defeat the capitalistic state. The police defend the capitalistic state and help keep the workers down (never mind the police are in a union and are considered part of the working class).
This lady seems to have a rather blah and unsuccessful life and thinks the solution is to bring everybody down to her level. So the obvious answer is to be more successful and raise the overall level.
But that ignores the fact that a lot of people don’t want their level raised, they prefer to muddle through life and complain.
