Don’t Let Stress Get you Down

The front page of the April 15, 2011 Wall Street Journal had a picture titled, “Japanese Cling to Tradition to Wash Away Troubles.” The picture is of two men in a communal bath (looks like a wood fired hot tub) that is situated outdoors, in the middle of rubble and destroyed buildings. The description states that this is an over 1,000-year-old custom.

Sometimes you just have to get away from the stresses of business and life. Earthquake, Tsunami, bad business, great business (overloaded from so much going on) or anything else that happens.

No matter what happens, no matter what the circumstances, sometimes you have to step back and decompress. There’s a lot going on. Technology is exploding as fast as ever, the economy is picking up and the world is changing at an ever faster pace. Our best ideas happen when we get away from our desk, phone and computer and let our mind wander (this just happened to me, which is why I’m writing this). Try it, it’s some of the best business advice you can get.

“Try to relax and enjoy the crisis.” Ashleigh Brilliant, English author and cartoonist
